A Note from Your Teacher

As I am sitting in this classroom, enjoying lunch in these peaceful and quiet moments of a busy day, I am thankful for all the little bodies that walk through my door every day. Teaching has been my mission in life... the "job" I decided that I was meant to do when I was sitting in my third grade classroom. This job is not easy, but it is one that I am truly honored and blessed to have, So as we are almost finished with the LAST day of the 2015, I just wanted to wish each of my students and their families a wonderful two week break, Enjoy your family time and this amazing season of giving and being thankful. We all lead busy lives, so I am wishing you time and much happiness this holiday season, See you in 2016.

Merry Christmas!
Love, Mrs. McNeely

Welcome Back! Newsletter for Nov. 30

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. As much as I love being home, this break only makes me wish for Christmas break sooner than later. :) It will be here before we know it though.

Recently, I created a project on donorschoose.org, and amazingly in less than 24 hours it was completely funded! My students and I are looking forward to getting our packages in the mail and can't wait to use our new equipment.

Guided Reading discussions leading to inquiry

EcoKids: Coral Reefs

Tell me more about coral reefs!
What are coral reefs made from? How many fish can live in a coral reef before the habitat is too full? What is a staghorn coral? What is a limestone cup? How do the fish not get scratched by the coral? These were just a few questions that this little group of inquisitive kids had in store for our table discussion.

RMSC field trip highlights

Our first field trip of the year was today and what a fun, learning-filled day it was. We traveled to the rain forest and studied poisonous dart frogs. Then we ventured on down to the coast and studied marine life. We focused on habitats, plants, animals, and adaptations.
New Vocab: Behavioral vs Physical Adaptation

We were thinkers, inquirers, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, communicators, and became more knowledgeable.

Array City

Students created their own "Array Cities" to showcase their knowledge of arrays. Students constructed their arrays throughout the city and showcased the multiplication fact sentence that matched. This was a fun and relevant way to display our learning.
