How We Organize Ourselves
January 11th – February 19th
Central Idea: Parts of a system interact to provide structure and order
Reading: Read to figure out “who done it”, compare & contrast actions of characters, plots and settings within & across series, learn to take away life lessons by studying character and plot
Math:  Strategies for Area; Equivalent Fractions
Science:  Earth’s Processes (Slow and Fast Changes)

Writing: Narrative Writing (Adapting/Writing Stories)

February 22nd – April 8th
Central Idea: Interaction leads to transformation
Reading: Use structures & visual elements to understand main idea or message while forming point of view

Writing: Opinion Writing (Changing the World)

How We Express Ourselves
April 11th – May 27th
Central Idea: An individual’s opinion is based on their perspective
Reading: Use question stems, directions, and other testing features to perform best on tests
Math: Multiplication & Division to Solve Measurement Problems; Problem Solving
Science: Electricity and Magnetism
Social Studies: Growth and Change
Writing: Informational Writing
Field Trips: Columbia (State House & State Museum)
